Gypsy Divers strongly supports this program and recommends that every active diver pursue and achieve their Master Diver rating. It is awarded automatically by SSI once the diver has completed any four SSI specialties, plus the Stress/Rescue program AND has logged a minimum of 50 dives.
So the Master Diver certification, like the Advanced Open Water certification, is not a course in itself. It is a RECOGNITION of experience and education. A typical new Master Diver will have logged a minimum of 30 hours underwater over the course of 50 dives, will have experience across a variety of diving environments, and will know how to manage him or herself and to assist others in the event of an accident. In other words, master divers are typically great people to dive with.
