Like many good adventures, Andres’ diving story started completely by accident. About 40 years ago on a trip to Mexico, he took his first breath underwater and was instantly hooked. Life — and a long career in the fast-paced world of software and technology — kept him busy for a while, but eventually he realized it was time for career pivot, one that involved a lot more water and a lot fewer conference calls.
That realization brought him to the team at Gypsy Divers in Raleigh, where he now helps people start their own underwater adventures. Whether it’s signing up for lessons, choosing the right gear, or planning the next dive trip, Andres loves being part of the moment when someone discovers just how amazing the underwater world can be.
For Andres, diving combines all his favorite things: exploration, learning, great people, and the occasional excuse to disappear underwater for a while. If you’re new to diving, thinking about getting certified, or plotting your next dive destination, he’s always happy to help you take the plunge.
